The pool pump moves water through the components of the system, such as the filter, heater, water features and plumbing and should circulate the entire volume of water at least once a day.  Older pumps are manufactured with preset speeds that cannot be adjusted.

Running the pump at a slower speed for a longer period of time can save up to 80% on pool operating costs and 15,000 gallons of water annually.  Moving the water slower and with less pressure reduces friction, making the pump run cooler, quieter and more efficient extending the life of the pump and other pool equipment.

     High efficiency LEDs (light emitting diodes) are in great demand because of the many benefits over common incandescent lighting systems.  The greatest advantage to using LED lights is they can save nearly 85% in energy consumption over typical lights.  A 70 watt LED fixture produces approximately the same illumination as a 450 watt incandescent fixture.  They generate up to 80% of light energy compared to just 20% from the incandescent bulb, which waste the majority of power on heat.  LEDs produce very little heat, whether you leave your pool lights on for five minutes or five hours.

Compact and versitile, the equipment used to remove the dirt and rocks can maneuver in cramped spaces and fit through an area with minimal access.  The dirt is compacted to ensure the strength, integrity and exact depth desired for the finished pool. 

  Plumbing is a complex system of pipes, valves and equipment to supply, return and control the water, essential to maintain a clean and healthy pool.  The main drain and skimmers allow water to enter the system.  Pipes carry it underground to a nearby location of the equipment (pump, filter, heater, etc.).  Return lines deliver the water back into the pool.  The system is called “looped” because there is no beginning or end.   

Steel is placed in a grid-like pattern throughout the pool and tied to prevent movement and vibration.  The rebar provides a mechanical bond for the concrete.  Dedicated electrical lines are installed as well as a bonding wire, an important safety requirement of any inground pool or spa.  Any stray current is conducted along this wire and is similar to grounding.

Shotcrete or gunite is pneumatically applied to the reinforced structure with a system of pumps and hoses.

While the pool shell is curing, the deck area is prepared and forms are placed around the edges.  Concrete is poured and the deck is finished with an application of spray deck, acid stain or other material of choice.

The final phase is the interior finish, usually plaster or pebble.  A layer approximately 1/2″ thick is sprayed and troweled into the shotcrete surface.  Immediately upon completion, the pool is filled with water which can take 24-48 hours.
