When modernizing your Las Vegas pool or spa, consider installing equipment that is energy efficient and eco-friendly. Using less electricity and water not only saves you money, but also helps conserve the environment.

The pool pump moves water through the components of the system, such as the filter, heater, water features and plumbing and should circulate the entire volume of water at least once a day. Older pumps are manufactured with preset speeds that cannot be adjusted.

IntelliFlo Variable Speed Pump

Variable speed pumps are programmable allowing for customized settings at the desired flow rate to perform each function, thereby using the precise electricity needed. Higher speeds may be needed for specific tasks such as starting the equipment or when using a pool cleaner.

IntelliPro Variable Speed Pump

Running the pump at a slower speed for a longer period of time can save up to 80% on pool operating costs and 15,000 gallons of water annually. Moving the water slower and with less pressure reduces friction, making the pump run cooler, quieter and more efficient extending the life of the pump and other pool equipment.

High efficiency LEDs (light emitting diodes) are in great demand because of the many benefits over common incandescent lighting systems. The greatest advantage to using LED lights is they can save nearly 85% in energy consumption over typical lights. A 70 watt LED fixture produces approximately the same illumination as a 450 watt incandescent fixture. They generate up to 80% of light energy compared to just 20% from the incandescent bulb, which waste the majority of power on heat. LEDs produce very little heat, whether you leave your pool lights on for five minutes or five hours.

Some even come with a 15 year warranty. Manufacturers of LED pool lights now offer fixtures that change colors to create a unique atmosphere and further enhance your outdoor enjoyment and relaxation.

Laguna Pools is excited to announce a new relationship with premier hot tub manufacturer Bullfrog Spas. “I had been thinking about offering hot tubs to our clients from many years” said Laguna President Dewey Forte. “After doing much research, talking to almost every manufacturer in the industry and viewing many of the manufacturer’s products at industry trade shows I came to the conclusion that Bullfrog hot tubs are the best for our clients,” continues Forte.

Bullfrog offers a truly unique way for clients to customize their hot tub. Their patented Jet Pack system allows Laguna’s clients to select from over 25 different interchangeable jetted seat backs that are designed to fit into any seat in a Bullfrog Spa. This revolutionary modular technology is hailed by experts as the most significant advancement in home spas since the invention of the portable hot tub.

Laguna has been specializing in creating custom outdoor living environments for Las Vegas for over 20 years. Forte explains, “We have been building spascaspes, which is a creative way of taking a hot tub and incorporating it into a master planned outdoor living space, for many years. In the past, the client had to go out on their own to research and purchase a spa, now they can rely on us for everything.” With the addition of Bullfrog spas, Laguna client’s now truly experience one-stop shopping when it comes to designing and building their Las Vegas swimming pool, spa, landscaping, outdoor kitchen, fire feature or any other requirements of their outdoor living space. Laguna will coordinate the production, site preparation, electrical service, delivery and installation of a new hot tub.

It is easy and convenient for client’s to view, customize and purchase their new hot tub at Laguna’s showroom in Las Vegas. “We always have at least 6 hot tubs in stock. Additionally, we keep one filled with water and heated, so that clients can come in and try it out”, says Dewey. A custom configured spa is only two weeks away for those that want to select all the different options in terms of jetpacks, shell color, lighting & pump options, stereo systems and the multitude of other options available.

As part of the new hot tub offerings, Laguna has launched a new section of their website that will help clients make an informed purchasing decision. The hot tub section of the site also features pictures of past Laguna projects featuring hot tubs and spascapes. Here is the link: http://www.lagunapoolandspa.com/hot-tubs-las-vegas.html . Check back to the site often as new information is being constantly added.

Compact and versitile, the equipment used to remove the dirt and rocks can maneuver in cramped spaces and fit through an area with minimal access. The dirt is compacted to ensure the strength, integrity and exact depth desired for the finished pool.

Plumbing is a complex system of pipes, valves and equipment to supply, return and control the water, essential to maintain a clean and healthy pool. The main drain and skimmers allow water to enter the system. Pipes carry it underground to a nearby location of the equipment (pump, filter, heater, etc.). Return lines deliver the water back into the pool. The system is called “looped” because there is no beginning or end.

Steel is placed in a grid-like pattern throughout the pool and tied to prevent movement and vibration. The rebar provides a mechanical bond for the concrete. Dedicated electrical lines are installed as well as a bonding wire, an important safety requirement of any inground pool or spa. Any stray current is conducted along this wire and is similar to grounding.

Shotcrete or gunite is pneumatically applied to the reinforced structure with a system of pumps and hoses.

While the pool shell is curing, the deck area is prepared and forms are placed around the edges. Concrete is poured and the deck is finished with an application of spray deck, acid stain or other material of choice.

The final phase is the interior finish, usually plaster or pebble. A layer approximately 1/2″ thick is sprayed and troweled into the shotcrete surface. Immediately upon completion, the pool is filled with water which can take 24-48 hours.

This is a general description of the construction process and does not include some details such as the required inspections, installation of safety barriers and alarms, etc. We hope it will provide you with a better understanding of the swimming pool building process
